Greg Bodnar Memorial Scholarship Program

Greg was a young man who participated in the LaGrange Little League program many years ago.  Tragically, Greg and his mom were killed in an auto accident, just days after completing his last regular season in LaGrange Little League.  Greg was not considered to be the best athlete on his team.  He played the game for the love of the sport and for the friendships that were formed by being part of a team.  He was a shining example of what youth sports should be and his memory serves as a reminder to both the administrators and the young men and women in our program of how we may better conduct ourselves on the field of play.  

After Greg’s death, a memorial fund was established with the intent of not only keeping his spirit alive, but also to find a way to help other young men and women as they move on to the challenges of life after high school.  It is in this spirit that LaGrange Youth Baseball/Softball is proud to be offering college scholarships to young men and women who have participated in our program.

The criteria for granting scholarships to graduating High School seniors are as follows:

-    Participated for any length of time in La Grange Youth Baseball or Softball.
-    Will attend college in the next year.
-    Exhibited high moral standards and good sportsmanship.

The annual Greg Bodnar Memorial Scholarship will be awarded on LaGrange Youth Baseball/Softball Championship Day.   Please follow the following process for submitting an application:

-    Please write at least a 500 word essay summarizing your experience in the LaGrange Baseball/Softball program and what it meant to you; Please specify how many years you participated, and in what capacities, i.e. player, umpire, other.-    You may also include, if you choose, your participation in extra curricular activities in your High School, athletic/academic achievements, examples of community service and volunteerism, plans for college and any career aspirations that you might have beyond college.  
-    Please provide three references with contact information along with your submission.
-    Separately attach your name, address, phone number, planned College to attend
-    Deadline for receipt of this submission is May 30th.
